Its Fall Y'all, Time to Cozy Up
I may be biased (as the day of my birth marks the end of summer) but y'all I DO love me some fall. Whether you are into the hygge trend of the season or just enjoy a good ole cozy ambiance, this post goes out to you. Cause let's be honest, who doesn't worship the day you can turn off that A/C and comfortably leave the windows open? BLESS UP. Except now you realize all your décor is off whack and you need to switch it up REAL quick, on a budget I might add. Here's some easy ways to make you house fall friendly without being just plan tacky.
I'm so cold...
First up - throw blankets. I cannot preach this enough. The easiest way to class up/cozy any room in your home is a good throw blanket. You may think $30 for a blanket is ridiculous but when you realize how often you will use it and the class it instantly adds you will never go back. Some tips: mix colors and textures to really get the most bang for your buck. I tend to go for neutral colors in fun textures like knit or faux fur. You can find some great options at your local Home Goods.
But my house smells like the beach....
Awesome in July, confusing in September. Put those tropical breeze candles and diffusers in the closet and whip out some rich fall scents. When picking scents for your home think about what kind of environment you want to exude. I personally go for "calm and warm" which brings me to scents like maple, almond, coffee, etc. Don't get me wrong, I aint afraid of no pumpkin, but variety is always good. Candles not only immediately trigger cozy memories with their scent, but also with the flame itself. Don't be afraid to switch off the lights and have dinner by candlelight every once and awhile.
I want to be outside all the time...
Time to bring the outside in. To create a space of calm, research shows bringing natural elements into your home has exponential effects on feelings of tranquility. Throw a pumpkin on your coffee table, replace those bananas and oranges with apples and plums, HECK go get yourself a mum. You can't go wrong with connecting with nature and the pros about this décor are the dual purpose of eating it :)
