I tracked down one of the highest rated artists in my current home of Louisville, KY. Since the creation of her own business, House of Wax, in the beginning of 2017 Najla Keserovic has quickly risen in the ranks of Louisville’s beauty elite.
What’s the hype? We sat down for an interview to find out just that...
♥️Tell us about you ( and how you got into microblading)
(Najla) Personally - I’m Najla, the owner of House of Wax LLC. - established May 2017. I’m 22, Bosnian, an immigrant & a rescue mama of 2 dogs & 5 cats! Professionally - I’ve specialized in brow artistry & body waxing for 4 years now, so when I learned about microblading it was a no-brainer! It’s just a semi-permanent version of what I’ve done for years; it benefits my clients greatly & makes their lives much easier. I’ve always had a deep understanding and passion for brows & I knew I was a highly qualified artist who would provide Louisville with upscale high quality work - to be honest - we didn’t have many choices or quality options for natural looking microblading before. I was so tired of seeing botched brows leave every permanent makeup studio & tattoo shop. I’m someone who takes great pride in my craft & I make sure my clients are 100% obsessed with their results before leaving me. ♥️What should someone look for in a microblading artist?

(Najla) There are so many answers to this question, but first and foremost, clients need to do their research and thoroughly assess the artists’ work. Do NOT settle for anything short of your highest expectations, believe me. If you’re looking for natural and balanced brows, make sure your artist is capable of providing beautiful results with many different brow types. Another thing to check for is proper licensing & certifications, such as health department certifications displayed stating the salon registration number & the artists tattoo license & studio license - this will prove the studio has been officially inspected and licensed for operation. STOP GOING TO HOUSES FOR MICROBLADING. I’ve even had a client tell me that her sister had her brows done in someone’s shed in their backyard. REALLY? Guess how good those brows looked. 🤦🏻♀️ ♥️What are common pitfalls of microblading?
(Najla) Really there aren’t any other than having to heal for 14 days following your procedure. 14 days of no water, sweating, picking, scratching, or touching whatsoever. I send each client home with vitamin A&D ointment to apply 3x daily to keep brows moisturized and to prevent severe scabbing. ♥️What do most people not know until they research ?

(Najla) You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or beast feeding, if you have diabetes, a history of keloids, if you’re anemic, on blood thinners, a hemophiliac, or if you have cancer, are going through chemo, or have hepatitis, HIV, etc. ♥️How do I know if it's for me?

(Najla) As long as your medical background is clear & you’re capable of caring for your new brows you’re a great candidate. Literally anyone may opt to enhance their brows. ♥️What should I expect?
(Najla) As far as your appointment goes, here’s how the timeline goes. -first 20 min you fill out your waiver while your brows are numbing with a topical anesthetic. -next 10-15 min we spend measuring and mapping your brow shape based on your facial features & brow preferences. We don’t start at all until you’re 100% comfortable and happy with the shape we customize for you. -next 15-45 min are spent actually microblading! I’ve finished brows from first cut to last in under 5 minutes, and I’ve finished at 40 minutes. It truly just depends on your style, density preference, shape, & skin type. ♥️Any other tidbits you would like to share!
(Najla) Please do your research before booking & avoid all of the surprises and confusion that come with a semi permanent tattoo! The more educated you are the better!
